One of the best-loved collection of children's books during the mid-to-late 1800s was Dame Wonders' picture books. They were richly illustrated, and appealed to pre-readers as well as first readers. This is her book on Animals and Birds. The original illustrations have been carefully repaired, and the text has been edited to reflect language of the 21st century. If you look carefully at the final illustration, you can see that the hard-copy book was bound by hand-stitching the pages and covers.

Emo bunnies, zombies, rainbows, an unholy cow and sugar plum fairies dance across the pages. Caution, these stories are not for the sane of heart.

“The Emo Bunny that Should”

Emo the Bunny was a sad bunny. He preferred gloomy days, walks over a cliff and misery of any sort. One day he saw something very unusual. Normally he'd take a nap and try to forget about it, but for some reason he took an interest. Then things happened. Emo the Bunny hated it when things happened.

“Zachary Zombie and the Lost Boy”

Zachary Zombie is searching for newts in the forest. He finds a lost boy instead. When the boy asks nicely for help getting to his home in the village, Zachary agrees. Things are bound to go wrong when a magical stag, a pretty woman at the edge of a cliff, a party in the cemetery and villagers with torches and pitchforks are mixed with a craving for brainsss.

Buster, a happy-go-lucky boxer, runs the Venice West Café, a beat poetry and jazz club in Venice, California. The pugs operate the Ferris Wheels, the bull dogs sell T-shirts, and the blood hounds run the gondolas. At night they all hang out at Buster’s Venice West Café to listen to beat poetry.

Life is simple and good, until the evil land developer Ivana Moore schemes to pass a leash law and deprive the canines of their rights. Her plan is to confiscate their land and transform the artistic bohemian community into a luxury resort of condominiums and expensive boutiques.

The bulldozers and wrecking balls arrive. Terrified, the dogs flee for their lives. Homeless but not defeated, Buster and his friends come up with a plan to save Venice Beach.

This is a tale for children and for dog lovers of all ages.

Our hero Charlie Parker adopts a greyhound puppy from the Greyhound Adoption Agency. He calls the dog Chuckles and the two with Charlie's friend Chester become inseparable. The boys teach Chuckles amazing tricks and experience a number of funny and exciting situations. Charlie doesn’t realize that two crooks, Scar and Dave watch the development of Chuckles and try in a hilariously unsuccessful attempt to steal Chuckles to race as a greyhound. Scar observes Chuckles' affection for Mr Bentwhistle's poodle Fiffi. Scar uses Fiffi to 'get to' Chuckles. They snaffle the dogs and hide them at S and D Tomato Farm where they are planning to paint and disguise Chuckles. However, Mr Bentwhistle being an ex SAS soldier devises a plan for Charlie and Chester to bravely rescue Chuckles and Fiffi.

For someone afraid of the dark, living in the Arctic is a severe test of courage. There the sun doesn't shine for several months. Jean-Paul, a young Canadian boy, struggles to hide his fear and adjust to life in the Northwest Territories, where he is taunted and excluded from activities by a group of Inuit boys because of his small size and a limp caused by a birth defect.

When Jean-Paul finally succeeds in impressing the boys with the tricks he's taught his husky, Sasha, they agree to let him join their club, the Ice Patrol. But as part of the initiation, they force him into a deserted igloo that is rumored to be haunted, where he must remain for two hours. The forced imprisonment, with no light and only Sasha for company, proves to be just the beginning of the most serious challenges to face Jean-Paul in the harsh Arctic environment.

Set in the 1930s, this novel is an exciting story of ordeal and courage, of friendship and loyalty. Readers will sympathize immediately with young Jean-Paul and will be charmed by Sasha, the beautiful husky puppy that steals everyone's heart.

Several years ago, while living in Michigan, Bonnie Turner and her family adopted a husky named Sasha, the same name as Jean-Paul's dog in the story. For Bonnie Turner, that exciting event led to a lasting interest in Inuit culture and life in the Arctic, and to the writing of The Haunted Igloo.

But while Sasha may have spurred the author's interest in writing this book, she has always enjoyed writing and telling stories to children and comes from a family of artists and poets. The Haunted Igloo is her first book for children.
